Our Therapeutic Supervised Visitation Program works with families to promote safe, healthy, and consistent parent-child relationships in the aftermath of family trauma and separation. Highly-skilled licensed therapists strive to help custodial and visiting parents to better understand and meet the physical and emotional needs of their children through psychoeducation, skill building and processing the impact of family trauma and separation. The program is child-centered, strength-based, and trauma-focused.
Psychotherapy, also called talk therapy or usually just “therapy,” is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and mental health problems. Provided by any of a variety of trained professionals – psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, or licensed counselors – it involves examining and gaining insight into life choices and difficulties faced by individuals, couples, or families.
Therapy sessions refer to structured meetings between a licensed provider and a client with a goal of improving some aspect of their life. Psychotherapy encompasses many types of treatment and is practiced by a range of clinicians using a variety of strategies. The critical aspect is that the client or patient works collaboratively with the therapist and can identify improvement and positive change over time.
The purpose of parenting classes is to help parents feel more connected, involved, and focused on their child. Parenting classes provide advice, strategies, and tools on how to raise children and provide an opportunity for parents to share ideas and concerns with parents going through similar issues.
Intense In-Home Services consist of family-focused, strength-based family therapy in the home and community for children/adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, several behavioral disorders, or substance abuse problems and their families. A therapist works closely with all involved systems (social services, schools, court services, health care providers, etc.) to provide the appropriate assistance.
